Introduced over 20 years ago, noise cancelling headphones were originally intended exclusively for use by pilots. Since then, the product has been adapted for use by anyone, in basically any noisy atmosphere, including airplanes, trains, buses, and busy office spaces.

Noise cancelling headphones feature ear cushions, designed to create an acoustic seal around your ears when worn, to comfortably reduce high frequency noises. However, low frequency noises are still able to pass through the ear cups.

That’s where noise reduction technology, like Sennheiser’s NoiseGard™, comes in. Sennheiser’s noise cancelling headphones are designed to pick up any low frequency noises around your ears, using tiny microphones located inside and/or outside of each ear cup.

Once a low frequency noise is detected, the headphones’ electronics create an opposite, anti-noise signal that almost completely cancels out the unwanted noise. This allows you to enjoy your music or entertainment at a comfortable volume level.

An added TalkThrough function lets you communicate with people around you, while using the Sennheiser headphones. The NoiseGardâ„¢ function can be turned off, when using your headphones in quieter areas.
