Space-saving, Wire-reducing Home Theatre Alternative

Posted on: September 1, 2010 In: Blog

Dreaming of adding audio to your existing TV, but low on space? Perhaps the concept of running wires makes you a little squeamish.

A sound bar, or speaker bar, is your simple, single cable solution to creating a home theatre system.  A sound bar is a long, horizontal speaker casing, containing as many as six cone driver speakers, which simulate a surround sound system.

The thin, sleek design of a sound bar makes it an attractive compliment to your flat panel TV. Automatic volume adjustment allows for smooth sound transition between scenes, or programs and commercials, creating a more comfortable entertainment experience.

A number of sound bars even come paired with a subwoofer for added audio effects, and in many cases the sub is wireless!

Standard features in a sound bar include 1080p capability, HDMI functionality and built-in amplifiers, while some models go the extra mile, boasting Bluetooth and iPod capability.

While a sound bar doesn’t match the audio quality of a true 5.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound system, it is a great alternative for those lacking the space to accommodate, or desire to wire-in, a full system.
