Mounting Brackets

Posted on: June 22, 2011 In: Blog

So you decided to upgrade to a flat panel TV, but can’t decide on the best way to display your recent or future purchase. There are several options available.

You could just use the stand that comes with it and let it sit, unsecured, on your credenza. Or you could mount it to the wall, protecting your investment and giving it a little extra “wow” factor.

Mounting options vary based on the size of your TV, your proposed set-up in relation to your available seating, and also personal preference.

Generally speaking, there are two different sizes of mounting brackets: one for TVs up to 32 inches, and one for TVs over 37 inches. In addition to sizing, mounting brackets vary by function as follows:

Flat Mount

If you are able to place your TV directly in front of your seating, level with your eye when you are seated, then a flat mount bracket would work well for you.

Tilt Mount

This option works well for placing the TV directly in front of your seating, but higher up on the wall. A tilt mount, as the name would indicate, allows you to tilt the TV downward for optimal viewing.

Pull-out/ Swivel Mount

This is the best option for a room where seating is not placed directly in front of the TV. You can use a pull-out/swivel mount to attach your TV to just about any wall, including one that may be perpendicular to your seating.

On-Ceiling Mount

This option creates a different look for your TV display. The bracket itself is mounted to the ceiling, with a drop-down arm that connects to your TV.

In-wall Mount

Possibly the most attractive option of all (if you’re really going for the “wow” factor) is the in-wall mount. Just like it sounds, this mount allows you to place your TV so that it is flush with the surface of your wall.
