Audio & video information that matters to you.
We’ve all heard the age-old saying “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”. In the May 2011 edition of Stereophile magazine, Kalman Rubinson tells us about the B&W 800D- the Diamond series- poised to become the best friend of audio-lovers around the world.

Choosing a projection screen can be a difficult task, due in part to the numerous options available. But don’t worry because we’re about to cover the basics, which will give you a head start in the decision making process.
First and foremost: What type of a room do you want the projection screen for? Is it a dedicated room, or a multi-purpose room?
If it’s a dedicated home theatre room, you’ll want to go with a fixed screen. These are wrinkle-free and mounted directly to the wall. For a multi-purpose room, a pull-down screen is more functional, as it can be retracted when not in use.
Every now and then we see a review so stellar; we just have to share it! So without further ado, here’s what Brent Butterworth of Sound+Vision magazine has to say about the Paradigm® Reference MilleniaOne™ 5.0 speaker system and matching Paradigm Reference MilleniaSub™.
First Impression
“Glancing over the stylish, diminutive Paradigm MilleniaOne speaker, you might assume it’s nothing more than a flimsy plastic housing packed with 25-cent drivers scavenged from a parts bin somewhere in the bowels of Guangdong Province… but besides its cute looks, the MilleniaOne has nothing in common with the typical “lifestyle” speaker. It’s part of Paradigm’s Reference line, so it employs custom-designed drivers, a stiff cast-aluminum enclosure, and a carefully tuned third-order crossover.“
Ask people today how they listen to their favourite music, and I would guess that a very high percentage would indicate an iPod® or iPhone® as their primary listening device. Portability is convenient. And these days, convenience reigns supreme.
As it should… If there’s one thing that we are all lacking, it’s time. Therefore, anything that can save us time directly, or help us multi-task to cram more tasks into our day, gets a huge “thumbs-up”!
The latest innovation from Bowers & Wilkins, the Zeppelin Air, is the first premium iPod speaker to feature the new Apple® AirPlay wireless streaming technology. B&W states that it is the best sounding Zeppelin® yet, with dramatic changes over previous models.
The new Zeppelin Air has the same classic look as the original Zeppelin, with numerous performance enhancements on the inside. These include “… improved dynamics, punchier bass, and a more open, lifelike presentation with a highly detailed, room-filling sound.”
You don’t have to sacrifice sound quality for portability… Our next couple of posts are going to focus on products, from some of our favourite manufacturers, which are designed to put the life back into your tunes.
Bose® speakers are known for delivering performance beyond their size and their SoundDock® products are no exception.  Their wide tonal range means you’ll clearly hear the deep lows of the bass, as well as the vocal highs in all of your favourite songs.
Like most iPod docks, the Bose® SoundDock® is easy to use and supports most iPod models, as well as the iPhone. Simply place your device into the dock and play. That’s it.
