Perhaps the concept of running wires makes you a little squeamish.

A sound bar, or speaker bar, is your simple, single cable solution to creating a home theatre system. A sound bar is a long, horizontal speaker casing, containing as many as six cone driver speakers, which simulate a surround sound system.

The thin, sleek design of a sound bar makes it an attractive compliment to your flat panel TV. Automatic volume adjustment allows for smooth sound transition between scenes, or programs and commercials, creating a more comfortable entertainment experience.

A number of sound bars even come paired with a subwoofer for added audio effects, and in many cases the sub is wireless!

Standard features in a sound bar include 1080p capability, HDMI functionality and built-in amplifiers, while some models go the extra mile, boasting Bluetooth and iPod capability.

While a sound bar doesn’t match the audio quality of a true 5.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound system, it is a great alternative for those lacking the space to accommodate, or desire to wire-in, a full system.

Introduced over 20 years ago, noise cancelling headphones were originally intended exclusively for use by pilots. Since then, the product has been adapted for use by anyone, in basically any noisy atmosphere, including airplanes, trains, buses, and busy office spaces.

Noise cancelling headphones feature ear cushions, designed to create an acoustic seal around your ears when worn, to comfortably reduce high frequency noises. However, low frequency noises are still able to pass through the ear cups.

That’s where noise reduction technology, like Sennheiser’s NoiseGard™, comes in. Sennheiser’s noise cancelling headphones are designed to pick up any low frequency noises around your ears, using tiny microphones located inside and/or outside of each ear cup.

Once a low frequency noise is detected, the headphones’ electronics create an opposite, anti-noise signal that almost completely cancels out the unwanted noise. This allows you to enjoy your music or entertainment at a comfortable volume level.

An added TalkThrough function lets you communicate with people around you, while using the Sennheiser headphones. The NoiseGard™ function can be turned off, when using your headphones in quieter areas.

Noise cancelling headphones are ideal for use with in-flight entertainment systems, as well as MP3 players, and all other audio equipment.

Even if you don’t expect to purchase your dream audio system right away, pre-wiring your home, during early construction or renovation, covers you for future possibilities. Planning ahead can save you time, money, and improve the overall look of your new system, by ensuring the wiring is properly placed and hidden from sight.

For best results, pre-wiring for audio systems should be trusted to CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) accredited installers, like our team of professional installers at Sounds Fantastic. Electricians are usually not interested or versed in wiring for multi-room sound.

Like every other detail associated with building a new home, or renovating your existing one, placement of pre-wiring for an audio system needs to be well planned out. You must take into consideration the future placement of furniture, electronics, lighting and decor, to ensure that the wiring is in the absolute best location for your future system.

Our CEDIA accredited installers work with you and your electrician, to make certain that all relevant details are taken into consideration. Your pre-wiring will be properly placed to match your overall vision of your home and its layout.
